Baskball is a game played between two teams of five players each. The goal of each team is to score by throwing the ball into the opponent's basket and to prevent the other side from securing the ball or scoring.The ball can be rolled, thrown , tapped or dribbled in any direction, according to therules. It is mainly a handeling game.

The games was born the the late 1891 in America. It was first played in the Y.M.C.ACollege of physical Education, Springfield, U.S.A and James Naismith was the first to release the Rule Book in 1895. The practice of the game was done on suspended peach baskets and itr was that which gave the name and later the peach baskets were replaced by hoops fixes on a pole 10 feet above the ground level. In 1936 , the basket ball game was first included in the Olympics.

The game was played in India in 1930 for the first time. In 1934 the first Indian National Championship fopr men was conducte in New Delhi. In 1950 the Basketball federation of India which controls the game was started. It is a Very popular game.
